About the Dillon Ice Melt

Each year since 1985, the Summit County Rotary Club has anticipated the spring thaw on Lake Dillon, by placing a device on the ice, which has the uncanny ability to know precisely when it gets wet. Proceeds from this event are put to good use when the Rotary Club grants scholarships to deserving Summit County students.

The clock has finally fallen through the ice

and even though we've had snow today....spring is here!

The date the Ice Device fell in was May 20th.

The time was the 20th hour (8 pm) 57th minute and 22nd second.

The Rotary Club of Summit County would like to thank everyone who purchased a ticket and we congratulate our winners.

First place winner of $2000. is Chris Rice, Ottawa, Illinois.

Second place winner of $500.  is Carolyn Gentling, Dillon, Colorado.

Third place winner of $250. is Carla Erickson, Dillon, Colorado.

The next seven place winners will be notified by mail that they have won 10 BBQ Bucks to be used at the Rotary's BBQ at the Summit on August 8th & 9th.

Rotary would like to thank The Dillon Marina for retrieving our Ice Device from the icy waters and Dillon Event employees, Stephanie Howland and Matt Hendricks, for muscling the Ice Device into the Rotary Truck so all this could be finalized.

The Rotary Club of Summit County thanks their community for the tremendous support.  We couldn't support our community projects without you.  By the way the Ice Melt contest is almost a quarter century old!
